Pagan Cult to Christian Ritual: The Case of Agia Marina Theseiou

Abstract

The healing and fertility rituals at the church Agia Marina in Athens cannot be documented before early modern times, and the church itself only back to the 13th century, so that they are probably not descendants or revivals of ancient practices but rather reflect more universal human needs.
