A New Source for Piccolomini’s <I>De educatione liberorum</I>: Filelfo’s Translation of Plutarch’s <I>Regum et imperatorum apophthegmata</I>
Abstract
Piccolomini’s educational treatise (1450) can be shown, by comparison with other available versions or extracts from Plutarch, to be indebted to Francesco Filelfo’s Latin translation of the Apophthegmata (1437).
