‘Most likely to succeed’: Degree Adverbs Specifying Probability in Classical Greek

Abstract

Several degree adverbs can express an assessment of probability and so function as attitudinal disjuncts, as is illustrated (especially in Thucydides) by examples using μάλιστα, ἥκιστα, μᾶλλον, and others.
