Homeric δέχαται (<I>Il.</I> 12.147) Reconsidered
Abstract
The form, from δέχομαι, is neither a shortened perfect nor an athematic root-present, but an artificial form built upon the well-attested participle (ποτι/ὑπο)δέγμενος, perhaps facilitated by similarity to ἕαται/κέαται.
