Old Testament Prototypes for the Hermetic Trishagion in Poimandres 31 – and Support for an Old Conjecture

Abstract

The opening of the Hermetic Trishagion can be emended, with the help of a papyrus, to show that it evokes the ancient interpretation of YHWH as “I am that I am” and also the biblical “Lord of Hosts.”
