Abstract

(1) The Plataean proxenos of the Spartans was the son of the Aeimnestus who killed Mardonius, to whom several other references can be recognized. (2) The Phrygian word for ‘bread’ is found in a fragment of Hipponax implying that the word was also used on Cyprus.
